Drunk "field hospital" in my town centre

Here in Preston riot police on horses have been now been patrolling the high street on Fri and Sat nights for the last year due to the violence. Now the following is the latest community venture to deal with the level of boozing taking place:

Paramedics are being stationed in Preston city centre in a bid to tackle the city's shocking booze culture.
Officers and health workers on the Flag Market tonight will dole out advice in a bid to quell binge drinking and drunken violence.

And the trial could lead to a M*A*S*H style "field hospital" at a permanent site to treat drinkers injured on booze nights out.

The Citizenzone centre, the first of its kind in Lancashire, was piloted on Friday.

Today critics said it was a "shame" the city's booze culture had deteriorated so much it was needed.

Ronnie Fitzpatrick, of the Preston Licensed Victuallers' Association, said: "It is a pity it has to come to this, mobile units here, there and everywhere.

"The other thing is it is purely cosmetic, it will only plaster over a huge cut."

The Citizenzone truck will be on the Flag Market between 8pm and 1am tonight.

Police will be on duty in the council-run mobile centre giving revellers the chance to report drunken trouble and other crime.

It will also provide a safe place for boozers to meet friends or wait for a lift home.

Mobile paramedics are due to be stationed there for part of the night, primarily to advise punters on how to avoid being injured while drunk.

They will also assess any injuries and advise if hospital treatment is needed.

A council press release launching the scheme described Citizenzone as a "drop-in centre" where paramedics would provide "care", although ambulance workers on the ground last night said their main responsibility would be prevention.

Prostitution is also being tackled after clients and hookers are now travelling to Preston to conduct business since it has got to big. The place is littered with needles each week and people are complaining people are fucking the whores in shop doorways etc.

I remember the looks of abject terror on the faces of foreign students' faces during freshers week at university. Poor things had never seen anything like Brit levels of boozing and debauchery before.

The only people that possibly come close are the Norwegians.
