Have have profound respect for this man, and as awful as it may sound, I believe that a lot of what he teaches regarding maintaining healthy relationships with dogs applies to relationships with women as well. Um... yadda yadda, I've got coding to do so... discuss?

I think I have vaguely heard about this show, but have never seen it. What are the main concepts that this person teaches?

This sounds interesting. Can someone provide a summary or list of the general points and ideas?

Be Calm & Assertive. Emotion often causes a reality disconnect. People often have the ulterior intentions that sabotage the initial action. People often mean well but lose sight of reality and fail to correct their actions because of the "good" intent behind them. Meaning well doesn't make one impervious to error. People project their feeling. The affection you give is for you. Hugs, kisses, and any affection you give is a projection of what YOU WANT not necessarily what others what or what is needed in the moment. The keys to leadership are confidence and inspiration. Staying in the moment. The pitfalls of living in the past and re-create the past.

This would probably be a much better discussion if the curious would simply check their local listings for the show. The show appears on the Animal Planet and, I think, National Geographic channels.
The most important thing I think I noted from the show was that animals do the exact same types of shit testing that we often see from women, and further, if we fail these test then the rightful subordinate in the relationship will assume a dominant attitude --regardless of the actual circumstances-- and pathology necessarily ensues. It's not whether or not your actual role or behavior logically implies dominance or leadership --i.e. you buy the food and decide when to share it, you decide when it's time to go for a walk and when to come back home, etc etc-- the dog is the lowest common denominator is the relationship so things must be measured on it's terms --you must show dominance in the ways that dogs perceive and understand it. The show illustrates quite well that in relationships demanding a clear leader and subordinate role attempting to shift these roles towards more equal terms --as some lonely people try to do with their pets-- incites pathological behavior. Also, as Maze mentions there is a lot of important discussion on how your own mind state influences not only the mind state of others but their perception as well. This, it seems, is especially true when the other person/creature is mentally very instinctual. Anyway, look up the show then watch it, it's good stuph, and being on point as many of us are with relationship dynamics I'm sure many of you will make personally surprising and very interesting observations.
