i think dancing is one of life's most important things yet one of the things i notice that is most disproportionately not done in regards to how natural it is.

it's like, everyone likes ice cream. but everyone actually EATS ice cream. everyone loves to dance. but like, no one DOES it. you can hardly get ppl to dance at an effing club sometimes let alone get into a form so they can feel more free and understand their body.

understanding and being in touch with your body is one of the most awesome parts of dance, and in that respect, i can't see how ppl don't push themselves to do some form. especially with the amount of ppl trying to lose weight and be healthy in this country.

"everyone loves to dance" - false people enjoy all sorts of things that others don't. its not like dancing is hardwired towards enjoyment like sex. its generally associated with feelings like sex, but it most certainly is not hard wired for enjoyment. its an activity that can be just as frustrating as any other.
as for classes, yeah i've taken salsa and swing group and privates. salsa was fun, and opened my eyes to other latin dances (bachata, mambo, etc.) but swing was much more enjoyable.

and actually i sessioned with the oakland breakerz and the headhunters crew in sobay. headhunters which compete on a national and semi-international level and oakland breakerz being some of the best bboys i've seen in the bay area. the best footwork bboy i've ever seen (on the oakland breakerz) who sessioned with ichigeki crew (one of the top bboy crews in japan) was my mentor. that's where i learned my skills.

Dancing is fun for everyone once they get into it. As for reading, while I agree you can be a book snob, I think in many circles just mentioning the name Tolstoy (for example) is enough for people to be like "omg snob!!!" when his works are actually tailored to be easily understood (on various levels) by anyone who takes the time to read them.
