Like birthdays, I always find new year a difficult time. I can’t shake disappointment over the events in the closing year and worry whether I will ever manage to turn things around.

I will probably drive back to my flat under the pretence I’m going to a party - to keep up the charade to my parents that everything is ok and avoid questions. Then I will probably drive to the beach and see in the new year on my own by the sea.

The boss is absent today so my two colleagues showed up with a case of champagne (freixenet - this is fairly good even, dont know where they got the whole case from from ) and we've already been through 5 bottles. I had that cold too, it fucking sucked. I'd been quasi sik for like 2 weeks, but was pushing it pretty hard with finals, papers, work, trumpet etc but the day after I came back I was like... fuck. I got drunk 2 nights in a row and it was pretty much all downhill from there and I had to sleep for a whole day to go out that night (after a full night of sleep before). Finally I'm better. Fuck.

My NYE was alright (decent night in Shepherd's Bush with ex-uni mates and pulled a chubby Geordie bird, which was nice) but New Year's Day has to be one of the shittest days of the year - always grey, always raining and for reasons best known to myself I usually choose to spend it with a large number of other people with bad tempers and splitting headaches, watching a shit game we always lose, swaying unsteadily and coughing weakly like an old man. Except this year I have the added joy of going into work with four hours' sleep :)

Went to a rave in Brooklyn. DJ Odi was incredible, other DJs, not so much. Ate two pills of E, and the rest was a dream sequence I have already forgotten.

That last beat was killer... but this one is iller
